Back in Bangalore again and the lights went out much sooner into the trip than last time. It’s typical for a quick outage every hour. Today was a bit different. As the plane was going in for the landing, they throttled up very quickly and heading back into the air. The runway lights went out. Infrastructure here seems worse & worse every trip.
Mike,
Cool – back on wordpress!
I suspect a tactical solution? I guess UPS sales (tripplite, etc) are through the roof there in India huh? What a market. In hmm. 2001/2002, I but some enron stock – yeah, a lot actually. Ha. I had been reading about their power plant project in India, and saw GE was a partner, so I figured it had to be a solid deal, right? Then there were all the stories of the local regions not paying the bill, and the companies expecting the Indian government to step in and make good at any moment…
Then that whole stock thing came up and…. I never knew how the story wound up. Doesn’t sound like the infrastructure is keeping up with the growth or demand.
Mark,
I don’t think I new anyone affected by the Enron mess, now I do! Infrastructure is definitely not keeping up. They have built some new roads here, which people say, have really helped with traffic. But power is just not there yet. Can’t imagine what would happen if the masses could afford air conditioners!
Good post.
